I agree with this, and as Lisa is a mental patient there isn’t really a limit as to where you can go with her character. I was also told that I should get more angry at the point where she states ‘eating your fucking chicken’ as it could look effective. Through doing so I feel it engages the audience further. I feel that the reason I did this successfully with Lisa was because throughout I showed thought change, I used emphasis on certain words and used pauses. Girl Interrupted - Lisa's Monologue Watch on Based on Susanna Kaysen’s memoir of the same name, the film follows a young woman who, after a suicide attempt, spends 18 months at a psychiatric hospital between 19. Inside, she meets an irresistible patient who stirs up all kinds of trouble. I have chosen, for my final auditions assessment to do a monologue from the movie Girl Interrupted, it is a monologue I am familiar with, and have previously worked on character development so I felt it would be an appropriate choice as I could push myself further than with monologues I'm just getting to know. After a breakdown, Susanna enters a mental institution against her wishes.
